Direct-drive generators are an attractive candidate for wind power application since they do not need a gearbox, thus increasing operational reliability and reducing losses. However, this is achieved at the cost of increased generator size, larger inverter decreased thermal performance. The associated cooling system therefore crucial to keep sizes down operate within safe limits. Various techniques suitable reviewed analyzed in paper. performance maintenance requirements unavoidable compromises that be investigated together, especially large generators. location turbine also important dictates critical issues such as accessibility maximum size. key novelty paper assessment methods based on requirements.
